Carbon Nanotubes Market Overview

The Global Carbon Nanotubes Market is anticipated to increase by 14.8% CAGR from USD 1.1 billion in 2023 to USD 2.5 billion by 2030.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are cylindrical molecules that consist of rolled-up sheets of single-layer carbon atoms (graphene). They can be single-walled (SWCNT) with a diameter of less than 1 nanometer (nm) or multi-walled (MWCNT), consisting of several concentrically interlinked nanotubes, with diameters reaching more than 100 nm. Their length can reach several micrometers or even millimeters. The global Carbon Nanotubes market is expected to rise at a considerable rate in the forthcoming years. This is due to due to the growing demand and use of CNTs are rapidly increasing in medical, aerospace & defense, coatings, and other applications, particularly in the APAC region.

The growth global Carbon Nanotubes market is mainly attributed to the factors such as an increase in the need for lightweight structural polymer composites, conductive fillers for EMI shielding materials, antistatic packaging from automotive, electronics, energy, & industrial end-users. Furthermore, carbon nanotubes-based ESD materials are used in fuel pumps, fuel filter housings, connectors, reservoirs, line clips, and electronic housings. As well, CNTs are used in the electrical & electronics industry to produce electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites and antistatic packaging materials. These key factors support the growth of the market in near future.

In addition, although several conducting particles have been studied, such as carbon black particles, carbon fibers, or metallic fibers, CNTs have demonstrated better EMI shielding properties owing to their high aspect ratio, higher strength, flexibility, and low density, hence, making them ideal fillers. This crucial aspect  majorly contributed to the expansion of the global Carbon Nanotubes market.

Covid-19 Impact on Narcolepsy Drug Market

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic conditions have severely affected every sector around the world. Whereas, the chemicals and materials sectors were moderately affected during the pandemic. This is primarily due to the uncut demand for chemicals for healthcare, life science, and cleaning agents. However, other elements of chemical and material sectors such as paints, industrial oil, construction materials are facing diminution in demand. Strict lockdown resulted in a nearly 50-60% reduction in supply for raw materials, which directly affected the manufacturing process. Further, halt on many end-use industries directly affected the chemical demand all around the world.

Carbon Nanotubes Market Segment Overview

Based on the Type, the Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) segment accounted for the largest share of the Carbon Nanotubes market in 2021. MWCNT has good electrical conductivity and is used in conductive transparent electrodes, conductive heating films, conductive nano inks, nanodevices, displays, chemical sensors, super batteries, supercapacitors energy storages, solar power cells, thermal interface material, and other applications. Furthermore, MWCNT can be easily spread on plastic materials and improve the mechanical properties of the components and decrease their weight without affecting their performance. Further, using MWCNT in automotive and aircraft applications is gainful as it allows fuel-saving and lowers carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
